Utopia takes its title from Indian spiritual master Krishnamurti's Book of Life: A Better Situation Does Not Exist. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese painting, the compositions feature an array of auspicious animals, symbolizing prosperity and harmony.
Swirling clouds weave through the imagery, creating a serene and mysterious atmosphere that exudes the profound power of silence. Yet, hidden within each piece lies a snake, subtly disrupting the tranquil scene. This presence evokes a sense of unease, transforming the peaceful imagery into a thought-provoking fable.
The juxtaposition mirrors contemporary Chinese society—where rapid economic development and the appearance of harmony coexist with underlying moral decline and a growing crisis of faith. Beneath the calm exterior, the lurking dangers remind us that true stability is as fragile as it is fleeting.
