“My paintings are directly inspired by lived experiences and observed spaces. Each figure is intimately connected to me, and I begin with my own photographs. This step is crucial to my process. The work here draws from the vast expanses of the American West, an incredible journey that became the catalyst for my art. The overwhelming scale, the vivid colors, and the profound sense of belonging—where reality surpasses the dream—are central themes. My canvases explore horizons and infinite spaces, delving into how humanity is an integral part of nature and the landscape. Yet, I also critique our often overly intrusive way of inhabiting the Earth. The transparencies within my work speak to this ecological footprint. I am captivated by the concept of humanity as a landscape. The so-called 'transparencies' are, in fact, transitions—passages between landscape and figure, and vice versa. I also convey that humanity brings its own poetry and intelligence, symbolized here by floral motifs, which represent a positive contribution. I predominantly paint figures from behind, steering attention away from the facand towards posture and gesture. I aim for the viewer not to question who the person is, but rather to see what the figure is observing. I choose not to narrate stories about the figures themselves.on for contemplation, but also to introspection. An ode to avoidance, to departure, to risk, to imbalance, but also a refuge. They finally offer us to observe.”
