LE TURK

Le Turk as an artist was born one fateful night while listening to Bach's Saint John Passion, blaring through his headphones. In those eight minutes, which felt like an eternity, something profound awakened in him. Ever since, his entire body of work has been a relentless pursuit of capturing and conveying the passion he experienced in that transformative moment.

Le Turk’s art is deeply infused with a baroque and nostalgic vision, evoking a perpetual fin de siècle atmosphere populated by lost characters in meticulously staged settings. In his "factory of marvels"—his studio—he constructs elaborate sets from cardboard, wood, and polystyrene, creating an artificial world with painstaking detail. By building false elements to depict reality, he seeks to transcend artifice and reveal contemporary tragi-comedy through grand, epic compositions.

Balancing the sacred and the profane, drawing inspiration from comic book aesthetics and the cinematic magic of Méliès, Le Turk weaves together themes of faith, fervor, and decadence. For over seven years, this photography craftsman and entertainer has pushed the boundaries of his medium, questioning and reflecting on the essence of our time.
