FABIENNE PERETTI

CERAMICS

Based in the Basque Country in France, Fabienne continues to explore the endless possibilities of clay.

Each place she have lived has shaped her artistic approach: in French Guiana, she learned precision, finesse, and the aesthetics of exactitude; in Martinique, she discovered the beauty of letting go and embracing the unexpected; in Canada, she accepted the identity of being "an artist."

Fabienne ongoing series, initiated in 2018, revolves around The Encounter—a collection of naïve, expressive figures drawn from her imagination or reinterpreted from the works of great Masters, from Basquiat to Vermeer. From her nomadism was born a great curiosity for all forms of art, but it is pop art and street art that make her vibrate.

His latest creations take up revisited great classics, such as the girl with a pearl earring, the son of a man or even his representation of Basquiat as a boxer.

If she works with white earth (which gives her a better rendering for bright colors), and slightly chamotted (to have more material between her fingers), Fabienne does not try to create an ideal character. Today, she who worked for a long time on the wheel on straight, rectilinear shapes, with perfect proportions, claims a completely uninhibited practice of ceramics.
